Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

What you talk about in therapy is confidential, for the most part. What that means is that, with a few exceptions, listed below, you have a legal right to keep sacred what is discussed in your therapy sessions.

Therapists are required by law to keep content of your sessions confidential, with the exception of the following:

Because Therapists are “Mandated Reporters” they are required by law to break confidentiality in the following situations:

1. Acquiring information that a minor between the ages of 0-18 have been abused
    
2. Acquiring information that a dependent adult between the ages of 18-64 have been abused

3. Acquiring information that an elderly person between the ages of 65 and up have been abused

Therapists are also required to break confidentiality if their client states they plan to hurt another person or bring harm to property.

Therapists, can, for the sake of keeping a client safe, break confidentiality if a Client states self-harm.
